It's Raining Men is a dance film developed from the choreographic process of Pedro Reis Training. The work emerged as an artistic extension of Pedro Reis' research, transforming material created throughout the process into a piece conceived specifically for the camera. Through creative exchanges around the proposal and the analysis of rehearsal footage, Will and I took on the camera operation, developing the visual language in direct dialogue with the movement ideas present in the choreography. The first two minutes unfold in a continuous long take, a central element of my body-camera research. This approach expands the possibilities of camera choreography, allowing for different pauses, dynamics, spatial relationships, and movement qualities to exist within a single uninterrupted sequence. As the chorus arrives, the visual language shifts. The camera becomes more energetic, incorporating whip pans, cuts, and a faster rhythm that follows the intensity of the performance. The piece approaches dance as a language of performance for the camera, revisiting references from 1980s aesthetics through a contemporary approach to movement, creating a dialogue between different temporalities.
